Busway bus stops tidied up

When it opened the busway had top of the range ticketing machines, as ticketing behaviour changed these became redundant but still looked like ticket machines. Frustrated by watching busway users routinely arrive at the stop, walk to the ticket machine and look confused I campaigned for improvements to busway bus stops. This has lead to tidy maps covering the ticket machine providing information rather than confusion. Locally I have kept on top of smashed glass panes in the bus stops and overgrown foliage which makes it difficult to use the shared use cycle/maintenance track particularly in summer.

Part of the process of building and supporting public transport is making passengers feel like they are valued and treated with respect. If the bus stops are run down and confusing it sends a message that no one cares. Very simple measures like adding a map to the out of use ticket machine are low cost but transformational.
