Excited to be a national trial area for Voi scooters they took off in Histon, Impington and Orchard Park providing a great extra form of public transport.
Initially Voi scooters worked really well for the community but at some point someone somewhere in the Department of Transport noticed that some of the guided busway cycle path wasnt’ on the official trial area map and demanded that the Voi scooters signal be switched off. This meant that if you tried to get from Histon to Cambridge North your scooter would just cut out. Being heavy and unwieldy it was far too hard to push them all the way to live zone to make them worth using.
When reports of this came in I got in contact with the Combined Authority to get this rectified. Recognising the importance of the issue I kept on pushing, initially escalating the issue to the Chief Executive and Mayor and then pushing our MP, Lucy Frazer, to get something done about this.
